Sunday Pickup Game (7:8)

Early morning (7:30 AM) Sunday pickup game

This week we played the north field. So many people showed up, so there were substitutions.

I knew this was going to be hard after 10K football on Wednesday (2026-08-19) and 10K running on Friday (2026-08-21)

Talk with Michael and One Stop Protein shake afterward

Note

I played for the whites. Right at the start, I had a big chance, but I shot over the goal. Then we conceded two goals, but Chad from Utah passed to me and from 20 meters I made it 1:2. Unfortunately, we conceded again. Then Chad interrupted their buildup, won the ball, and made it 2:3. Before halftime, I converted a breakaway when Erick passed me well. But in the last minute of the half we conceded another goal from a header after a corner.

The first half ended 3:4. During the break, I emphasized that we need to cross more. When we are waiting there and crosses are not coming, that is not good. That is why I did not play the corner short with Michael, but crossed it in. They blocked it, but the ball came back to me. I moved it into the box and equalized with my left foot to make it 4:4.

Then various controversies happened: first, we committed a textbook foul by holding in our box during their clear chance. It should have been a penalty (and maybe even a red card), but instead they just wrote down a goal for themselves. Then Chad scored from an angle. The goalkeeper caught the ball, but only after it crossed the line. Those who were on the opposite end of the field did not want to believe it was inside. The last controversial goal was mine. After their goal, we restarted the game and I went all the way into the goal. They argued that the goalkeeper was not ready. Was he celebrating their goal or what? Anyway, if they could score a penalty goal without taking a penalty, then my goal definitely had to count.

At the end it was 7:7 and we played for the winner. Our goalkeeper Chad kept us alive quite a bit and we had many good counterattacks. But we were lame and could not score. So we paid for it justly. Victor scored the winning goal against us.
