Description

Low-aerobic stationary bike at EOS

My new Garmin HRM 600 arrived, so I went right away to test it. Since I had PRP shots on 2026-01-08, I decided to bike instead. That worked well, since Garmin is now also offering me 190W cycling instead of 5:45/km Base runs.

But I soon realized that 190W is too easy for me. So I maintained slightly above 200W. I was in Zone 2 all the time.

Meanwhile, Martin was swimming.

Note

During the ride, I regularly measured my HR on the bike and compared it with HRM 600. Half the time, it was exactly the same number. The other half was off by only one HR. Pretty impressive!

The watch's screens showed exact HR (from HRM 600), but everything else was frozen or stuck at zero (distance and speed, for example). Not sure why. After completing the activity, I received an Execution Score of 0%. Obviously, Garmin was expecting some data from the bike to arrive, but a simple bike at the gym does not have these capabilities. But Garmin knew that from the beginning of the activity. Why did it let the activity run for 43:00 without a single warning? That is beyond my comprehension. And yes, I picked Indoor Bike when I started the activity, not regular Cycling.

Another big disappointment from Garmin. I would expect that a German-made watch for $990 would not have such lame quality problems. The more I use it, the more I think it is a gimmick. Will see soon how reliable the HRM 600 is.
