Description

Hike to Humphreys Peak

After a good breakfast, we drove to the trailhead. The hike went well, but the higher we climbed, the windier it became. Once we left the forest and the trees disappeared, the wind turned very strong. Eventually, we reached the peak, took some photos, had refreshments, and headed back quickly. The walk down felt incredibly long, and toward the end, we ran to keep the total time under six and a half hours.

Note

Above 3,000 meters, the oxygen level dropped significantly. This caused me a headache and dizziness, similar to feeling drunk. I had to catch my breath quite often. It reminded me of my Mont Blanc ascent in 2008. Eventually, my body adjusted and performed well, but the headache remained, so I took Advil.
