Sunday Pickup Game (5:3)

Early morning (7:30 AM) Sunday pickup game

Kondo and Martin are visiting me, so I took them to this pickup game. We all wore blue Slovakia jerseys, so we could play together against the white team.

The match was 13 on 13, or something like that:)

For most of the game, I played defense. Therefore, no goals for me today. But I ran 8.3km, not bad in 40 C heat! Also a good workout with the THRESHOLD training effect.

We started hard, and Martin had two good chances at the beginning. I had one shot as well, but there were so many players on the field that any kind of dribbling or shooting was simply not possible. We were the better team, but they scored the goal from an occasional chance with a beautiful header by Steve. Shortly before halftime, Kondo went to the bench for a refreshment. Immediately after he came back, he scored the goal from an angle with the help of the defender. We played hard, but there were only two fouls in the first half: one by Kondo and one by Martin :)

So the halftime ended 1:1. In the second half, their performance went down. Kondo scored another goal in addition to Erick's goal. All assists were by Martin. We were winning 4:1 but conceded two goals, and it could turn into a drama. But it was not. Kondo passed me into 100% chance, so I could get a goal too, but the shot got deflected and ended up in the net. When we scored another goal to 5:3. That was the last drop and the game finished. White was not a bad team. Especially Michael and Chris played well, but moving the ball with short and accurate passes was a more effective way of playing than dribbling and fighting hard for each ball.
