Description

Stunner Nights Runs - Insomniac 6K Trail Race
(5.7 kilometers trail run)

There were more races: 6K, 12K, 24K, and even 50K.

The last time I was here on 2022-11-12, I made it to the podium. Given the Arizona weather at this time (40 C / 104 F), I had no ambition to repeat such a result this time, but I ended up 9th (7th among men). Not bad!

Note

Phoenix is very hot these days, so I was really not sure I want to participate. But I decided to go and registered right on the spot ($58). I knew the place and trail already. I was surprised there was not as big a traffic jam in front of the park as the last time.

I wanted to give it a try so I used my new Asics shoes for this run, not the Salamon trail ones. Since it was a night run, a headlamp was required and I realized at the very last moment, that I do not have one. So I bought one there for $25. Well, lesson learned. Another lesson I learned is that the lamp has 3 levels and had it on the first level all the time. Indeed I was wondering why the light is quite weak :D

Again start was wild, first kilometer we went 3:39/km!! The heat was super uncomfortable, hot air in, hot air out, dry throat, burning head. Two girls passed me during the race and I ended up after them in position 9th. At the finish line, I passed the guy who blinds me during the race when he turned around and asked some questions. I almost fell down into the bush:) My finish was strong and hard, I have it on the video.
